TROY’S TIPS FOR ENDLESS ENTERTAINMENT

WITH YOUR TWINS!

Find an old bed sheet.  Find a place in their play room where there is a shelf on the wall, or put up a small shelf – and put the shelf high too – 6 foot or more if possible.  You will need some clamps, some tape, a bed sheet and a shelf.  Drape the sheet around the shelf so that it hangs down to about 1 foot off the ground.  Use the clamps or what ever you have to attach the sheet to the shelf.  Now they have their own private fort…and they will have a blast.  Simple, quick, cheap and effective.

A play house is great fun!  Inside or outside, big or small, cardboard cloth or wood…it really doesn’t matter much to them when they are young.  The main thing they are concerned with is freedom, their own space…and a very cool fort to play in!  You can use the $2 tip from above.  That one can be used inside with a shelf, or outside with a fence or wood…either way your kids will be content.

Now we have all heard it and seen it – they like the boxes more than the toys!  So next time you get a big box for something – cut out some doors and windows and they will be busy for days.   But you still have to buy them toys or so Katrina says J Really it does not matter what the toy or product inside can do. It is the packaging of it, the fun that can be had with it and the excitement that follows.

Wear something outrageous!  Kids love to dress themselves and they have no regard for what others think of their choices or combinations.  If you are having a bad day – join the club! Find that shirt that has been hiding for years and put it on.

Get a small swimming pool. One of the best, cheapest things you can do. The pool with some buckets and a hose are enough to keep them entertained for an hour or two.  Kids are fascinated with water…let them play. We live in a very cold climate for most of the year – too cold to be outside in water.  But for 4 – 6 months of the year we get the odd days when it is warm (30 – 35).  And they are heaven.  That and our girls love water (as does every kid usually). So we had to get some pools…more than one because they keep breaking on us!  We started off with the cheap ones…$10 - $20 ones that usually lasted for a week or so before holes would overtake them.  Or you can go with the molded plastic ones which would be a smart idea.  Buy a nicer (aka thicker walls) pool.  Spend the extra money up front and save the aggravation of buying multiple pools for your multiples (you have enough expenses to worry about now :o)

Sit on the ground and throw a sheet or cover over your head.  You kids will absolutely love trying to play hide and seek with you.  An awesome start to a playhouse/fort mentality for your children.  I have always believed that a fort or playhouse can be absolutely critical to growing up with creativity and imagination.  And forts are not very hard to make. Make it easy and simple.

Buy some plastic eggs at the dollar store – the ones that come apart in 2 pieces.  They love to take them apart. You can also put something smaller inside the egg so that it makes a rattling noise. Glue the edges together if the pieces inside are small.  I put some shreddies inside a couple eggs and glued/tapes the edges together so they couldn’t get them apart.  They love them!  Little shakers can provide some serious entertainment for them while shopping or bored!

Take them to the fish store.  Kids love water to start with.  Then add animals…instant…Free…entertainment!  There are fake plants to play with, fish to watch,
